7 Hyundai Spring Maintenance Tips
 Â
After a long and demanding winter, springtime is prime-time for vehicle care. This year, set aside a couple of hours to say "thank you" to your trusty Hyundai, with our handy list of spring maintenance tips:
1)Â Clean Your Vehicle - Inside and Out
It's far too easy for your car to collect lots of junk, especially in the winter months when it's simply too cold for dedicated cleaning sessions. This is the perfect time to get that clutter under control. But don't forget to wash the vehicle's exterior as well - particularly the undercarriage, which has likely accumulated plenty of corrosiveroad salt.
2)Â Equip Your All-Weather Tires
If you're like most Midwesterners, you've recently prepared for plenty of snow and ice by swapping out your standard tires for winter ones. Snow tires are made of particularly soft rubber, which gives them plenty of traction when the roads get slippery. But this also causes them to wear out faster than all-weather tires - so when spring rolls around and you no longer need the extra grip, be sure to switch them out again!
3)Â Fill Those Tires
Coldweather has a tendency to lower your tire pressure, by around 1 psi per 10°F drop. You may have noticed this during the chill of winter. If it's been a while since you last adjusted your tires' inflation, there's no time like the present to do so - especially if you're re-equipping all-weather tires that haven't been used in months. Proper air levels are critical for safe and smooth driving.
4)Â Install a Fresh Air Filter
It may not be one of the most celebrated parts of your Hyundai, but the air filter plays a very important role in protecting the engine from contaminants. And as airborne pollen counts pick up, it's more important than ever to ensure that yours is doing its job. This spring, take a moment to replace your old filter with a new one.
5)Â Change Your Oil
Oil is, essentially, the lifeblood of your car's engine. And when oil levels drop, or when the existing oil gets dirty, it can have a very real effect on the engine's health and performance. Spring is perhaps the best time to address this, as warmer weather will only increase the demand on your Hyundai's components.
6)Â Replace Your Windshield Wipers
Windshield wipers have simple rubber blades, which tend to degrade out and even crack with only moderate use. This problem is even worse in colder climates, where frigid weather and kicked-up salt or grit can accelerate the wear and tear. But keeping these wipers in good condition is essential for visibility and safe driving. Ideally, you should be replacing your wiper blades at least once per year - and spring is the perfect time to do so.
7)Â Inspect the Battery
After a long winter full of cold-weather starts, it's definitely a good idea to ensure that your car's battery is still running strong. If you have a multimeter, you can get an accurate reading of the voltage at home. This is also a great opportunity to take an actual look at the battery itself: keep an eye out for any signs of corroded terminals or a cracked case.
