The 2020 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 6 trims: SE, SEL, Value, ECO, Sport, and Limited. 

The SE, SEL, Value Edition, and Limited trim levels all come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that powers 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.A continuously variable automatic transmission is paired with the engine. The 6-speed manual transmission from older models has been discontinued. The Elantra ECO comes available with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that powers 128 horsepower and comes standard with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Sport sedan and N-Line hatchback come available with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine powering 201 horsepower and comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission while the N-Line comes available with 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission. These available engines provide a smooth, responsive, and gentle ride. 

With its base engines, the 2020 Elantra achieves 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. The 2020 Elantra Eco achieves around 33 mpg in the city and the Sport achieves 26 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway. 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration administered a crash test and the 2020 Hyundai Elantra received a 4-star overall rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Elantra excellent scores in all crash tests and awarded it a Top Safety Pick+ Award. Some of the standard safety features that helped with the over 4-star rating are anti-lock brakes, side-curtain airbags and traction control with stability control, forward-collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert system, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and driver attention monitor. 

There have been some significant upgrades and updates for the 2020 Elantra, mainly found in the powertrain, adding a continuously variable tranmission (CVT) and the addition of new state-of-the-art safety features.
