The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug In promises to be a real game changer in the race to create the most environmentally friendly and affordable family sedan. The Sonata Plug In looks like it is going to be a true groundbreaking vehicle. The all new Sonata features both an electric and gas motor that offers plenty of driving range and excellent fuel economy. According to EPA, the new Plug In will have an EPA rating of 99 MPGe, which means when the electric motor is doing all of the work. Overall, the Sonata will achieve 40 MPG overall when it is in regular hybrid mode and running part of the time on the gas engine. The electric motor has an impressive driving range of 27 miles, which is due to its large and powerful 9.8kWh lithium polymer battery. The 2016 Sonata Plug In is the first ever hybrid electric car from Hyundai, and it provides you the power of a gas engine for longer trips, while providing total environmental friendliness for shorter commutes to work or the grocery store. Hyundai says that when the electric and gas motors work together, total driving range can exceed 600 miles.
